LA CAPANNA is a small independent antique house suitable for 5 + 1 child up to 12 y/old , located in the middle of the village but hidden at the sight.

GROUND FLOOR: Entering the house from the terrace guests will find themselves in a wide room, which is divided in several areas: a sitting room with a big 16th century fireplace, a dining area and a kitchen equipped with refrigerator, dishwasher, washing machine and a little oven.

FIRST FLOOR: An iron and wood stairs leads to the first floor
One AC double bedroom with a king size bed, one AC twin bedded room ( beds can be joined upon request) with 1 single bed for a child, one AC single room, sharing two bathrooms with shower. All bedrooms are equipped with air-conditioning and fans. The house is also equipped with an independent central heating system and fireplace.

OUTDOORS: A charming patio is furnished with a table, chairs and a large umbrella. The small private swimming pool (6 x 3 meters) is maintained daily by a gardener. Down four steps guests will find an open space with sunbeds and deckchairs. At the end of this space is a complete bathroom and changing room close to 14th century well closed by a grate.

San Giovanni is a small village with approximately 300 inhabitants. The villa is situated in the upper part of the village - the "Borghetto", directly opposite the ancient castle, the origins of which date back to the XIIth century, and which is now the seat of the municipal authorities.

The territory of San Giovanni includes the hamlets of Montisi, Lucignano d'Asso, Monterongriffoli, Vergelle and Pieve a Salti. (San Giovanni was originally the seat of rural Etruscan settlements).

The castle hosts the famous White Truffle Market in the month of November.

Within the municipal territory is the picturesque village of Montisi, with its Chiesa dell'Annunziata and its historical grain tower. Here, every year, on the Sunday nearest to the 5th of August (the Festival of the Madonna delle Nevi, the patron saint of Montisi) a jousting contest - the "Giostra di Simone" - takes place.

Among the agricultural products of the area, the white truffle is prized and famous throughout Italy, as are the excellent wines, oil, savoury cheeses and honey. In this upper part of the village there is a fine restaurant.

While the village is quite intimate, it has all the necessities you need to settle in for a long stay, including a coffee bar, two truffle and wine bars, a pharmacy, post office, supermarket, bank and characteristic shops such as a butcher and a baker, a gourmet restaurant along with weekly markets and the first italian truffle museum.

The lower part of San Giovanni d'Asso has an 'osteria' (simple restaurant), a baker and butcher, a pharmacy, a post office, a supermarket and cafe/bar.

There are public tennis courts 8 km away at Torrenieri, the famous abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore is 7 km away, the thermal spa town of San Quirico d'Orcia is 14 km away, Montalcino 17 km and Pienza 20 km.
